Neurodevelopmetal refers to a group of conditions that affect the development of the brain and the nervous system, leading to difficulties with learning, communication, social interaction , and motor skills. The number of adults that are diagnosed with Autism and ADHD are on the increase with the two conditions often co-occuring (AUDHD), with estimates suggesting that 30-80% of individuals with autism also meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.
The latest prevalence studies of autism indicate that 1.1% of the population in the UK may have Autism.
Having Autism and ADHD massively increases the risk of psychological distress, most commonly anxiety and mood symptoms. Moreover , there is a growing recognition that individuals with such conditions are at a higher risk of experiencing Trauma .
